Ltd, it opened as the Skyline Drive-In Theatre -
Blacktown on Friday 20 December 1963 with the

&LQHPD6FRSH ¿OP State Fair starring Pat Boone,
Bobby Darin and Ann Margret, with supporting
feature The Sea Wife.
At the time of opening, the appointed Manager was
John Merrin, a long time employee of Hoyts, who
prior to his engagement to this new position was the
projectionist at the Skyline Drive-In at Dundas.
%ODFNWRZQ ZDV WKH ¿UVW GULYH LQ LQ WKH 6\GQH\
Skyline circuit to have the projection booth mounted
on the left side roof of the concessions building,
with the Snack-Bar and other amenities located
beneath.
7KH ELR ER[ ZDV DOVR WKH ¿UVW WR KDYH &LQHPHFFDQLFD
projectors installed, backed up with Mole
Richardson arc lamps.
7KH ¿HOG ZDV HTXLSSHG ZLWK D QHZHU NLQG RI MXQFWLRQ
box and in-car speakers compared to those installed
in the original Skylines - these were supplied by
N.T.S.(National Theatre Supplies), a Greater Union
subsidy.
The stand-by power plant and maintenance block
ZHUH ORFDWHG DW WKH UHDU RI WKH ¿HOG RQ WKH ULJKW 1R
playground was located in front of the screen area as
was the situation in the earlier theatres.
