House of Strangers (1950)
            An intelligent study of a
          domineering father (played by Edward
          G. Robinson), House of Strangers ran
          into some bad publicity, including the
          fact that Robinson was called before
          the House UnAmerican Affairs
          Committee to explain his politics.
             In Sydney the film opened at the
          Plaza, a logical destination for a family
          drama. Apparently a disappointing
          season convinced Hoyts to toss it into
          the Lyceum - Melbourne’s home for
