I guess one of the perks of this job is that sometimes you get to preview items before they go on sale and get to keep the
product, it didn't happen this time, but hope lives eternal.
The item is a CD from Chris Long's "Antiquarian" label: title: MELBOURNE IN THE 1920s.
What do you say about a CD of music recorded in Melbourne in the late 20s to early 30s, not bad, good, ok?
No, I think great is the word. Great in as much as it has allowed us to hear some of the music and perfonmers that were taken
for granted at that time. It was the sunset of live music in the cinema, it gives us now the opportunity to hear and enjoy a style
of music long gone from the cinema.
My verdict on the CD : buy it I'm sure you won't be disappointed .
My only criticism.
Is due to the technical trickery used to remove the snap crackle and pops, the sound is a little flat. I don't mind a little scratch
and hiss behind the audio content, increasing the high end boost on my mixer EQ gave me the feeling of more presence, not
all of us are blessed with 20 year old ears.
ED.
When can we expect the next one for review?
