Proscenium with Dark Green Stage Curtains & Yellow Screen Curtains
The new Memorial Hall and R.S.L. Clubroom was completed in 1961. The building was constructed on the steel
framework, curtained brick wall system. Stained timber lining boards have been used in the stage area and at
the rear of the hall, otherwise the natural bricks have been featured. Dark green stage curtains have been
installed and yellow screen curtains are used. All the cinema components were transferred to the new large
building. Acoustic problems plagued the new operation and modifications (including sound deadening panels)
were made as a result of advice from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
