NEW SOUTH WALES:

              NEWCASTLE:  The  (1929)  Henry  White
              designed, Civic Theatre has been added to
              the State Heritage Register as “a fine example
              of the Georgian Revival style”.
              BLACKTOWN:  An  entirely  new  field-1
              screen  has  replaced  the  original  at  the
              Greater  Union  Blacktown  Twin  Drive-
              In Theatre. The  smaller  screen  allows  the
              parent company to utilize part of the site for
              the construction of a motel complex. Field 1
              was closed for a few months and re-opened
              in November.  An $80-million “Wet n Wild”
              theme park is planned to open a short distance
              from the theatre.
                                                 NARRANDERA: Restored for theatrical

                                                 benefit from a $25,000 RAS Community
                                                 Futures Grant to upgrade the kitchen area
                                                 to modern standards.
