CHELSEA
n Wednesday November 24th, 2010 a
Ospecial Nostalgia matinee was run to
celebrate the 85th birthday of the beautiful
Chelsea Cinema in the Adelaide suburb of
Kensington Park (Marryatville).
The cinema originally opened in 1925 as
the Princess Theatre but in 1928 it was sold
and operated as the Ozone.
Modernisation came in 1941 and from
1951 it became Hoyts Ozone when that
company purchased the site.
Burnside Council bought the building in
1964 and leased it back to Hoyts until current
lessee, Wallis Cinemas took over in 1972
renaming it The Chelsea.
