This involved locating any of the manufacturers still living, their former employees, or their next of kin. But
finding these people has often been extraordinarily difficult, involving painstaking detective work over a period
of years. When found, I conduct recorded oral history interviews with them. These interviews are supplemented
with data from early trade journals, newspapers and catalogues, together with relevant documents and
photographs. When finally completed the research will be published under the title: "Early Motion Picture
Projectors in Australia: 1895 to 1935."

Another' part of the collection is movie posters. These can be divided into two groups: posters for Australian-
made films, and posters for films from other countries. The former section currently consists of 541 posters,
spanning the years 1909 to 1996, while the latter consists of 331 posters, spanning the years 1912 to 1980.

With an enormous amount of work and the help of many people, items have been obtained from every state in
Australia as well as from New Zealand, England, Austria and the United States, and my initial goal is being
realised. I have worked on it now for over nineteen years, and it has become what I consider to be my life's
work. The search continues. Copyright (C) Allan Osborne. 1997.
