To keep up, the Starlight installed heaters in
             the early 70s, followed by Cine-Fi AM radio
             sound which premiered with the film Grease
             in January 1979.
               A  $200,000  expansion  and  renovation
             program in November 1982 saw the Starlight
             twinned  with  both  screens  serviced  from  a
             new central bio box. Bill Hoorweg was now
             the chief projectionist running Cinemecannica
             Victoria-8 projectors teamed with new Xebex
             Supersol N series Xenon lamphouses.  Other
             improvements  included  upgrades  to  the  cafe
             with new signage, catering equipment, 15 self-

             In 1987 the theatre was purchased by property
             developers for $1.5million, but the new owners
             continued to operate the drive-in with Greater                Norm Edwards.
