                          THEATRE                This  first  CinemaRecord  for  2013  brings  you  another  bumper  edition

                          C A   H S              featuring yet another diverse array of news, articles and memories from
                                                 all over Australia.   It has also been great to receive many interesting
                                                 responses to past articles, as sharing your observations, information and
                                                 personal memories though these pages really does helps piece together a
                  HISTORICAL       SOCIETY       clear picture of our theatre heritage that could otherwise be lost.
                        ESTABLISHED 1989         The past year has brought about one of the biggest world-wide changes within the
                                                 cinema exhibition industry, that being the replacement of movie screenings using
                                                 film stock with a purely electronic, digital format.  With this new technology, film,
                                                 film projectors and even film projectionists have virtually now been made redundant overnight.
                                                 Often working long, anti-social hours in the unseen solitude of an isolated bio-box, the skill and
                                                 dedication of film projectionists has been crucial to a successful theatre and a happy audience for
                                                 well  over  a  century.  How  disappointing  that  this  valuable  contribution  seems  to  not  have  been
