HERITAGE LOST
rom its opening on November 5 , 1937, the Ozone Theatre in the Adelaide
th
Fsuburb of Glenelg (S.A) was the epitome of movie-going class, comfort
and sophistication. Wallis Theatres took over from Hoyts in 1971 and eventually
developed the 1800-seat Ozone into the
three-screen Cinema Centre. Changing
trends forced Wallis to regretfully close
the cinema in 2009. Despite public
protest, the site was doomed to be
cleared for the construction of a new
shopping complex.
