he Headlines screamed the news of the preceding
days tragedy “Black Wednesday!” ..when fires
Travaged the mountainous coastal region between
Geelong, Lorne and along the famous great Ocean Road.
At the movies in Geelong, the glory days of multiple
screens run by Village Theatres were coming to a close –
soon they would disappear one by one.
But here Village are still operating 2 Drive-Ins on opposite
sides of town as well as the large single screen Corio
Cinema and the twinned former Geelong Theatre.
The small independent Pix is the only competition.
The Cinema And Theatre Historical Society Inc. is proud to have
The Sun Theatre Yarraville as our major sponsor. Many thanks to member
Mr Michael Smith, the owner of the Sun Theatre, for providing the venue for
CATHS meetings and events.
