TOP: Opened as Hoyts ‘NEW MALVERN’ Theatre in the early 1920’s, it was photographed
here on its last day of operation, February 4, 1987.
BELOW: Photographed in JUNE 1989, the St.Kilda (V) landmark began as the open-air
Lyric Theatre in 1912. The theatre was roofed a year later, and in the 1930’s became
the ‘EARLS COURT THEATRE’ before being converted to a Ballroom and finally a nightclub.
(Both buildings have now been demolished).
