The Quarterly Journal of the Cinema and Theatre Historical Society of Australia Inc.
Well there is a first time for everything. This is my first time to
write for CATHS. A little introduction - I will be fairly new to most

ABN 56 004 920 745 CAV No. A0020747R I lived all of my early life in the West Brunswick area of Melbourne,
moving to Pascoe Vale South when I married Keith 57 years ago.
I was always a “picture goer”. The Western Theatre was my local
39 St. Edmonds Road Prahran Vic. 3181 and I was fortunate to be in the tour that the late Mal Elliott

lingers, like the Grosvenor, the Odeon, the Capitol, the Esquire and even the Lyceum. After we

Mill Press Geelong ourselves mostly to the drive-ins.
Patrons: I feel the friendship of the folks that are the members of CATHS and is a great reason to be a
Peter Smith OAM Frank Van Straten AM member. I do wonder sometimes just how much of the work that is undertaken by Mike and Dick
is known by our members. They are the backbone of CATHS. Hopefully I will be able to assist
