The Quarterly Journal of the Cinema and Theatre Historical Society of Australia Inc.
Thank you to all who took the trouble to compliment the editorial team
on the last edition of CR. Sydney’s Capitol Theatre made for a very
Cinema and Theatre Historical colourful and fitting image for our front cover.
Society of Australia Inc. In this edition, we have again attempted to cover as wide a range of
ABN 56 004 920 745 CAV No. A0020747R material as we can. However, we are somewhat restricted in that we
can only publish the material that is submitted. At times, this skews
39 St. Edmonds Road Prahran Vic. 3181 the balance a bit toward articles on Victorian venues. We would love
Email: caths@caths.org.au to have more articles on venues in other states.

final edit.

Mill Press Geelong This edition contains a “my story” on the Darwin Drive-in by Patti Izod. Patti heard a radio
interview on Darwin radio, when our Publicity Officer Steve Maggs and myself were in Darwin
Magazine & General Distribution: last year. She was good enough to contact us and write up her recollections of the drive-in. These
Harvey & Pam Hutchison types of stories are within the capabilities of most members and add human interest to our mix
of articles.
Membership As this is the last edition of CR for the year, and as we had some great colour pictures to

accompany some of the articles, we decided to run 18 pages of colour - a first for CR - we hope
you enjoy this edition.
