Geelong Theatre with redecorated auditorium.
The Head Projectionist was Tony Bowerman in
Cinema 1, and John Uldrikus in Cinema 2. The
General Manager at the time was Geoff Heriot,
who also oversaw the operation of both the Star
and Village Ballarat Road Drive-In Theatres.
Geoff was a true gentleman, and the epitome of
theatre managers. He retired in the early 1980s
after 50 years in the industry, and passed away
on June 29 1983 at the age of 68. Four months
later, the Geelong Theatre’s assistant manager/
relieving projectionist, Bill Adcock, passed
away at the age of 81.
In 1993, the Village Twin closed for conversion
into the Village 11 Complex. Most staff lost
their jobs, but the few fortunate ones were
transferred to the Pix Cinema in West Geelong
which had been purchased as a “stop-gap”
venue during re-construction. Live Show.
