Hoyts
Sunnybank
Cinemas
n Sunday June 19, members
Oand guests of the QLD Chapter
of CATHS enjoyed an inspection of
the Hoyts 8 Cinemas at the
Brisbane suburb of Sunnybank.
It was great to see a number of
new members attending a function
for the first time - as well some
long-time members who had not
been before.
Due to family, travel or health
issues, some of our regular members
were unable to get there - but it was
great to have some new faces to get
to know.
These cinemas were recently
taken over by Hoyts, along with a few
other sites in Brisbane. They were
formerly part of the AMC circuit. The
group was welcomed by Duty
Manager, Dawn, who told us of the
changes that Hoyts have made, such
as refurbishing some of the cinemas,
as well as the high hopes they have
for the future, including installing an
"extreme screen". The group were
then let loose to wander the auditoria.
Originally, the cinemas had
gentle sloping floors, but now have
stadium seating. All 8 cinemas are
identical in decor, the only
difference being the size of the
auditoriums. Seating capacities are:
cinema 1:157, 2: 195, 3:300, 4:158,
5:158, 6:158, 7:301 and 8:198.
