exactly 100 years after Mawson was
born at Shipley UK, Mawson’s
(Hurley’s) glass lantern slides were
projected for the third time in recent
years by CATHS member, Michael
Cant at a special screening in
Adelaide.
A narration accompanied the
slides as did a short section of
motion picture film (converted to
DVD) which was kindly made
available for the evening by
members of the Mawson Family.
This was a wonderful night. The
projected images were large, bright
and sharply focused. At the end of the
show Michael and his “assistant”
Fred Palmer (who helped in the
projector’s restoration) were over-
whelmed by members of the audience
impressed with the projector and
enquiring about its history and asking
how it all worked!
