CATHS VISITS MYRTLEFORD 14-15 MARCH
The picturesque town of Myrtleford,
in north-east Victoria on the Great
Alpine Road, was the location for this
year’s Fun & Film Nostalgia Weekend.
After making their way to the town
and booking in at the motel, there was
plenty of time for members to catch up
and have a chat over a quiet drink.
Then it was off to the local theatre for a
special CATHS Saturday matinee
screening of nostalgic shorts from the
1930s and 1940s.
Following the film show, it was
back to the motel to freshen up in
readiness for dinner in the motel’s
restaurant. The three-course meal was
followed by more chat and a well-
earned sleep.
A Sunday morning started with a
bus tour of the area, which was
organised by local CATHS’ member
Tiff Rayner. Tiff’s lively commentary
and his knowledge of the area gave
members a greater appreciation of the
town and its history. After morning
coffee on the shores of Lake Buffalo, it
was back the theatre for more film
entertainment.
The end of the film show came all
too soon. Following lunch at various
local eateries, it was time for goodbyes
and the return trip home.
