Top: The interior was given two make-overs in the space of six years. This is the first. It retains the original barrel ceiling but wall
decoration is minimal - wavy lines concealing ventilation chambers. For a wide theatre, the stage is surprisingly mean.
Above: The interior most patrons remember: a wider stage and an emphasis on vertical lines. Not visible is the false ceiling and the
same three-shade light pendants. The Cinemascope screen was set behind new satin curtains which covered the inner ‘fat’ columns.
