Childhood memories of films are indelibly linked to the theatres in which they
were seen. Alan Windley recalls that King Kong was the first film he saw at the
Eclipse Port Melbourne, an auspicious introduction to the theatre. Noel Kerr’s
history of the Eclipse, reinforces how memories bring the facts to life when an
author is lucky enough to find a family for whom the local picture theatre meant
so much.
