Opened originally as “The Southern Cross”
and was later rebuilt as “The Regal” which
closed in 1957. It was quickly demolished
to make way for a service station.

screenings at The Regal – it was
the first of Essendon’s three
theatres to close. The other two
theatres were the Hoyts Circle
and Hoyts Plaza.
