Village Millennium VIP Pass
Village Cinemas are offering a Millenium YIP Pass- available for $2000. Billed as a 'once in a lifetime opportunity', the
Pass will allow the holder to: Unlimited movies - with a pa1tner - throughout the year 2000 at any Village Cinema or
Cinema Europa.
Gold Class Cinemas at Village Geelong
Village have opened two Gold Class Cinemas at its Geelong 11 Multiplex. Two of rhe smaller cinemas. Cinemas 2 and 3,
have been refitted as Gold Class cinemas with larger screens, digital sound and recliner seats. There is also an adjoining
lounge with bar and kitchen facilities.
Rivoli Opening Delay
The planned December re-opening of the new extended Rivoli multiplex, may still happen before Christmas. Village are
building an additional six screens, and lhe 8 cinema complex is of an Art Deco design.
If the finished facade looks as half as good as the architects drawings it will be a stunner. It will be even better than it was,
with all the 1960's stuff removed for a true Art Deco feel and look.
Coburg Drive-In
Things happening at the moment. with new asphalt roadways. new sign. adve11isments for cinemas. etc. Still double
features for $1 I and kids under I 2 are free. Too good to be true!
Shepparton Drive-In
Looks likely to continue in the warmer months. The subdivision that was going 10 cause the drive-in to close was not
granted planning permission.
Columbia Pictures 75th Anniversary at The Astor
The next Astor Calendar- which runs from December 19. 1999, ro April I. 2000- features the following highlights: The
Astor Theatre salutes Columbia Pictures 75th Anniversary with exclusive Melbourne screenings of some of the studio'<;
greatest films - from the dawn of the sound era and the famous "Screen Gems" to the 70MM '>pectacular Lawrence of
Arabia.
We have selected the "best of the best'' - Crime and Punishment, Anatomy of a Murder. Five Easy Piece!>. Fail Safe.
Human Desire. The Big Heat, On The Waterfront. The Collector, Curse of the Demon and Pal Joey.
All the prints are brand new and many of them have been lovingly and painstakingly restored from faded and damaged
originals. Most of the screenings are on Sunday afternoons and evenings. The exception is David Lean's Lawrence of
Arabia which will be shown for an eight-day season (from Sunday. March 5 to Sunday. March 12).
There will also be an I l -day season from Sunday. January 2 to Wednesday. January 12, of a delightful, Audrey Hepburn
double - Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffany's - featuring brand-new. 35mm prints.
The final season for the new calendar features a brand-new print of the classic. Casablanca, which will screen from
Sunday. March 19 to Saturday. April I.
Cinema Under The Stars at Eyton
The Eyton on YaJTa Winery is running the Eyton Summer Music and Cinema series until March 2000. Program enquir-

$9; Children $7 (under 15); Family $30. The next screening will be on 18th December, featuring Two Hands. Eyton on

New Nova Screen
The Nova Cinema in Carlton bas recently added a new screen. Opened on Monday night 29th November. the new I I 3
seat cinema- Cinema 8- is the first of three additional screens to open at the complex over the next few weeks (Cinemas
6 and 7 will follow).
Regent Yarram
Reverting to weekly operation over the Christmas holiday period. The Wellington Shire Council has just advertised a
position for a full time manager to operate this newly restored venue (the only real picture palace left in Gippsland.
