So You Think They Looked Similar! by Gerry Kennedy

When you look at photographs of old theatres you start to notice similarities in desigA. That is because the
same architects may have been used to design theatre buildings, and renovations. Design trends were often
             quickly copied.

Whether it be a new theatre, an extensive refurbishment, or an extension, design similarities became appar-
ent. Various architects and architectural firms specialized in theatres and cinemas. Some of these people
worked on buildings in many states of Australia, whilst others restricted their activities mainly to one state.

It is intended to list the works of some of these architects over the next few issues of Cinemarecord (space
permitting). Please add to this list as you do your own research by letting myself or our editor know of any
             updates.
